Elizabeth C. Axford was one of the original seven NSAI Workshop Coordinators when the program began in 1990 under Pat Rogers and Katherine Dines, and in 1992 under Donna Michael. With help from the established Miami Songwriters group led by Rick Clark, she founded the Miami NSAI Workshop, now called the NSAI South Florida Chapter, in October 1990. After moving to San Diego, CA, in 1992 following Hurricane Andrew, Liz founded the San Diego NSAI Workshop, now called the NSAI San Diego Chapter, with the help of the already established Western Country Songwriters group led by Gary Rold.
After attending NSAI workshops in Florida and Nashville, Liz believed that affiliating with Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) would greatly benefit local songwriters. She went on to volunteer for 20 years, from 1990 to 2010, on behalf of NSAI, and during that time made dozens of trips to Nashville to learn from the best and bring that knowledge back to the workshop members. In 1992, Liz had the privilege of attending the first-ever Tin Pan South Festival and NSAI Song Camp. As workshop coordinator, she oversaw more than 300 regional NSAI songwriting workshops and events, many held at Piano Press Studio and multiple venues in San Diego and Miami. The .pdf file below lists these workshops and events in reverse chronological order, including those in San Diego, CA, and Miami, FL.
The NSAI Regional Workshops, now called NSAI Chapters, are still active today, and more information can be found at: www.nashvillesongwriters.com
